Dear Pat and Family, Please accept my deepest sympathies on Gene's passing. As "Mr. Foster" he has had a tremendous influence on me as both a student and now a teacher. I always felt safe in his classroom and his love of bringing nature into the classroom is something I pass on to my students. I can still remember the day we took a field trip into the forest to collect specimens for our terrarium and when I finally behaved well enough to blow the conch.
