Violet Iona (Card) Mountney passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Timber Trail Retirement Residence in Madoc on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the age of 100. Violet Mountney, beloved wife of the late Ronald, loving mother of Dennis & Karen Mountney of Baptiste, Linda Musclow of Birds Creek, Ron & Darlene Mountney of Birds Creek, Kevin & Jo-Ann Mountney of Baptiste, Connie & Gerald Peacock of Hermon, Sandra & Ben Storey of Alberta, May Chan of Windsor and beloved mother in law of Dennis Musclow. Violet was predeceased by her daughter, Marion and by her son in law, Hugh. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and their families, by her brother, Don Card of Bancroft, by her sisters in law, Fay and Leona Card, both of Bancroft and by her many nieces and nephews and their families. Violet was predeceased by her siblings: Irma Storey, Hilda Hawley, Jennie Taylor and Clifford, Ross and Roy Card. Violet was born in Bancroft in 1923, the daughter of Miner Card and Lizzie Hinze and has resided here all of her life until a recent move to the retirement residence in Madoc. Her family was her life but she still managed to do housekeeping for other families for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She will be forever missed by her family.
