Obituary for Vera Myrtle Crawford-Wannamaker

OBITUARY
VERA MYRTLE CRAWFORD - WANNAMAKER (FOSTER) , born in Hermon, Ontario to Harry Wesley Foster and Helena Marguerite (child) on May 23, 1931 and passed away at Quinte Healthcare North Hastings on August 31, 2021 in her 91 st year.
Vera resided in Detlor for a large number of years where her sons, Brian and Bruce were born and raised. The first love of her life, Bernard Crawford, passed away November 4, 1987 after a lengthy illness. Mom later moved to the Riverside Chateau where she spent the rest of her life. While there, she married the second love of her life, Elmer Wannamaker. Unfortunately, Elmer suffered a severe illness and passed away on July 4, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry & Rite, by her siblings, Dean Foster, Helen Crawford and Jeanie Foster. Surviving siblings are Irene Hamilton, Bill and Harry Foster.
Lovingly remembered by and mourning the loss of a great lady, mother and friend are her sons, Brian (Carol) of Gravenhurst and Bruce (Carol) of Bancroft, grandchildren: Shelley, Clinton
(Tina), Deann (Dave), Amanda (Chris) and Travis (Ashton), great grandchildren: Fallon, Brandon, Tamara, Chandra, Dawson, Blake and Maren, extended family: Ned Wannamaker, Carol Burling, Peg Gilbert, Steve (Jean) Wannamaker, Joyce (Ron) Mackey, Mary (Peter) Panabaker, David (Chrystal) Wannamaker, Grenda (Ivan) Porter and their families. She was predeceased by sons in law, Joe Burling and Perry Gilbert.
Mom was a member (in many cases lifelong) of St. Andrew's United Church in L' Amable and later, Carlow United, the U.C.W., St. Paul's Choir, Bancroft, Bancroft Seniors Club 580, Bancroft Legion Seniors Club and numerous other organizations. She put her organizational skills to work in each and every thing she was a part of, as well as writing a book on the history of St. Andrew's United Church. Mom exercised a passion for gardens and flower beds and it showed in all of the results. She loved the bush with all the wildlife therein. With Elmer, she was able to travel across all of Canada and Alaska on a number of trips. These excursions and times were perhaps the most cherished of anything as she kept a journal with accompanying photos. Mom, throughout her whole life, was always there to care for and lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mom, you will be deeply and sorely missed by all that loved and knew you.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Neuman Family Funeral Home. Private visitation was held prior to cremation at Elmwood Crematorium in Corbyville, Ontario. A graveside service will take place in Egan Creek Cemetery in the near future when Vera's cremains will be interred. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers, was Vera's request.
