Obituary for Robin Nora Bjarnason

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robin Nora Bjarnason at 7:22pm on Wednesday August 25th 2021. Robin passed away peacefully at the age of 71, after a decade living with an atypical Parkinsonian disorder. She is achingly missed by her beloved family, including her husband of 50 years, John, her three children, daughter Skye Thietten (Jeremy), son Toby Bjarnason, and daughter Jamie Bjarnason (Matt Rooney), along with her grandson Bodhi Thietten, her sister and closest friend, Cindy Scott (David), and sisters-in-law Barbara Bjarnason, Christine Bjarnason-Cox (Stephen), and Laura Bjarnason, along with her many nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews who were all so important to her and loved by her.

Robin was born and raised in London, Ontario until she moved to Toronto in her early teens. Robin was a very creative person and she had tons of natural artistic talents that showed in her love of beauty in all things. She attended Ontario College of Art and Design for fashion design in her late teens, and then again for Interior Design later on. She met her soulmate John Bjarnason on her 16th birthday, and they were married the day after her 21st. John and Robin had a unique and powerful love; they were dedicated to one another and to overcoming any obstacles presented to their family, together. She supported John in everything; she was in the front row at his music gigs for 50 years and behind the front desk as his chiropractic assistant at his Toronto Beaches practice for 30.

Robin was a natural beauty, and she will always be remembered for her grace, kindness, and welcoming manner. She had a 1,000 watt smile, a genuine laugh, and made a point of speaking to everyone as if they were old friends. Robin loved her children with every fibre of her being, and devoted summers to them at their cottage on L'Amable Lake, ON. She modelled love and tolerance as the most important family values, and cheered them on in their every endeavour.

She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. When you remember Robin, please honour her by being kind to the people in your everyday life and show kindness to strangers for no reason at all. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in her name, Robin Bjarnason, to the Rossy PHP Center in Toronto via the UHN Foundation to support treatment, research and development for Atypical Parkinson’s.
