Obituary for Renate Krieger
On May 16, 2023, in her own home, Renate Krieger passed away peacefully at the age of 79.
Renate was the beloved, cherished wife and best friend to Fred for over 60 years. Loving mother of
Gordon & Sarah of Bancroft, Angela & Kevin Thompson of Courtice and Jenette & Bill Dickey of
Bancroft. Cherished Oma of Samantha, Steven (Torie), David (Emma), Nicholas (Joanna), Jonathan
(Rachel) and Jared (Marlee). Doting fur-mom of Baxter and Barney.
Renate, Fred and their children moved to Bancroft in 1970. They built their first home in Monteagle, later
moved to Baptiste Lake where they enjoyed many years on the water, finally settling on the family farm
in Hastings Highlands.
Renate touched the lives of many while working at Universal Seals, than as a teacher’s aide at Bird’s
Creek Public School and North Hastings Senior Elementary School.
Renate was a tenacious, loving, outspoken, and proud woman. She enjoyed snowmobiling, knitting,
sewing, card and board games, German music and dancing, cruiser nights, pickle ball, and maple walnut
ice cream.
Renate was an avid carpet-bowler, and represented her province at the senior games multiple times. She
came home with bronze, silver and gold medals.
Family and friends will forever miss Oma’s contagious laugh, her unique sense of humour, her witty
come-backs and her Oma-isms. #fruddle
