Obituary for Evelyn Pearl Inwood

Evelyn Pearl Inwood September 12, 1930 - March 11, 2022

Evelyn Pearl Inwood (nee Wienecke) passed away at Hastings Centennial Manor in Bancroft on March 11, 2022 at the age of 91 years. Evelyn, beloved wife of the late Gilbert Inwood of Denbigh, loving mother of Irma (Lawrence) and Patricia (David) of Bancroft. Cherished by her grandchildren Ed, Heather, and Crystal (Alex), and great grandchildren Jaz and Chloe. Evelyn was the 7th of nine children, predeceased by her siblings Albert, Herbert, infant Eric, Norris, Earl, Carl, Lorne, and Ruby. Her parents were Victor and Minnie Wienecke. Evelyn was born September 12, 1930 at Little Cedar Lake in Denbigh.
She earned her Teaching Credentials from Ryerson in Toronto and otherwise lived in Denbigh. At 17 began her first teaching position at Crowe’s Landing on Stoney Lake near Lakefield, taught at several one room school houses, and retired from Denbigh Public School after a 34 year career.
Evelyn and Gilbert fell in love when he asked her to dance at a community hall where he was calling square dances. They became best friends, married, and partnered for 63 years of happiness together.

Evelyn was an active member of St. Luke’s United Church and demonstrated her strong faith through out her life with her family and community. Evelyn will be fondly remembered by her family, nieces, nephews, friends, and students as the kindest, gentlest person with a heart of gold. Her positive outlook on life and brilliant smile endeared her to everyone.

She enjoyed many hobbies: arts, music, crafts, sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, and travel. She loved her family above all else, for which we are blessed. We have dear memories but we miss her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Neuman Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced and held at St. Luke’s United Church in Denbigh, where donations may be made in her memory in lieu of flowers.
