Obituary for Bill Bandy

The family of Bill Bandy are saddened to announce his passing at Quinte Healthcare North Hastings on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the age of 73 following a lengthy illness. Bill Bandy, beloved husband and best friend of Louise, loving father of Todd & Jenn, Rob & Patricia and Michelle & Bud, all of Bancroft, loving grandfather of Bradley, Kristen, Kendra, MacKenzie, Ben, Taylor, Connor and Emily. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Sam & Mabel (Messenger) Bandy and by his siblings, George and Irene. Bill was born in Orangeville on July 10th 1949 but lived most of his life in Bancroft. He became employed by Bancroft Ambulance service in the late 1970's and obtained his EMCA certification not long afterwards. He purchased the service from Bill and Joyce Wiggins in 1987 and erected a new ambulance base on Hastings Street. After selling the service, Bill worked for a number of years on the Provincial review team. In retirement, Bill loved playing banjo with the Hughey Band and travelling to the many country music events around the Province. Winter trips to points south were fond occasions for he and Louise and summers found them travelling to various locations in either the trailer or the motorhome. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Bill will be left with the same recollection of a kind, soft spoken, fun loving man who was interested in everyone and what they were doing. He will be greatly missed. Audrey and Dale Hughey will once again be playing with the assistance of their beloved friend and banjo picker!
