Condolence: Art was many things to folks in our community. One of his loves was sports, especially hockey. In his younger days, back when there was no Tim Hortons at highway seven and that highway went through Madoc, Art was playing goal for Bancroft and on a particular evening, things were not going well for the team and they lost to Madoc. Art says he was so upset with his performance that he decided to end it all. He went out to St Lawrence Street (highway 7) and jumped in front of a bus. He said the darn thing got through between his legs. I heard Art repeat that story many times. Each time it was just as funny. I'm sorry I won't get to hear him tell it again. My condolences to the family.

Condolence: Thinking of Art reminds me of younger days when we were next door neighbors to the Young's for many years. He was always quick with a laugh and a story just to get us going---definitely loved to tease us. I will never forget the family's kindness when our Mother was ill and they bunked Alex and I in for quite some time. I will miss seeing Art and send our sincere condolences to all the family. Thinking of you all.

Condolence: What a character! You never knew when he was telling a story whether it was the real McCoy or whether he had his hook in your mouth ready for that quick hookset punchline, initially with the straight face, followed by a mischievious smile. Never trust anything he said about where to catch brook trout. Art, keep a tight line up there after a life well lived down here.

Condolence: Art, we will always remember you water skiing in your Mother's bathing suit on Weslemkoon lake. Such great memories we have of time spent with Art and Gwen and the Young family on the lake. Special hugs for Dennis, Ardyth, Kim, Lynn and Gordon as you celebrate the life of a man bigger than life itself. Sorry to not be with you, but will be there in spirit.

Condolence: Margaret and family, please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of such a wonderful friend -- a man who brought joy to everyone around him. We will forever remember his smile, and how he could come up with a joke "out of the middle of nowhere." May you rest assured he is now enjoying the company of those who have passed before him, all in the presence of our Lord!
